about

Volume II of the Art Guitaret features music for dance. The music shows the Guitaret at its lightest and happiest, and was assembled for people to dance to - as little possible variation in tempo as I could manage (using my Peterson body beat silent metronome).
At its core are two large suites in cheap imitation, Imitación Barata (of music by Sanz, following the example of Rodrigo) and Contrefaçon Pas Cher (of music by Arbeau, following the example of Warlock). The rest is straightforward arrangement, where possible for solo guitaret.
As with the other volumes, where the music is for solo instrument I have included the score in the album download.

Dance music more than any other contains the joy of what Fraser called "the audible now", and this joy is placed here in the context of another recording of the forest at Haanwijk: this time in May, with the trees are full of singing birds. The field recording is yet again by Klankbeeld, and again my profound thanks to him for going walking with a recording machine.

about

Ivodne Galatea Nedlands, Australia

Principally playing original compositions of an ambient nature on the Hohner Guitaret as well as other thumb pianos/finger harps/lamellophones.
Interested in orchestration using field recordings, per the great John Cage's suggestions (1937).
The pieces are all pataphysical book reviews. They consist of musical essays on books of the same title that haven't been written, but should have.
