about

The performance of Aporetic Trope No 9 by a choir of 9 Guitarets was made possible by the use of pitch shifting of a single guitaret, both in-production and live with the Digitech Whammy DT. Given the range of the Guitaret (15 semitones) the piece was transposed to permit the shifting chords that dominate the piece to be played on the highest notes. Additionally quite a few of the tunes were were divided in two runs (e.g. the rocking ostinato and the higher tunes) using the practice of hocket. Since the number of shifts or resifts varies, there is some timbral variation. Also the lowest final note was inaudible because of the Guitaret timbre, so it is raised an octave.
